conversations of hope....

1 Corinthians 3:11-17 - Remember, there is only one foundation, the one already laid: Jesus Christ. Take particular care in picking out your building materials. Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you'll be found out. The inspection will be thorough and rigorous. You won't get by with a thing. If your work passes inspection, fine; if it doesn't, your part of the building will be torn out and started over. But you won't be torn out; you'll survive --but just barely.  You realize, don't you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you? No one will get by with vandalizing God's temple, you can be sure of that. God's temple is sacred --and you, remember, are the temple.

What "cheap or inferior" materials am I trying to use as my foundation?

Any other foundation than Jesus is cheap and definately inferior. I tend to spend alot of time on the "outside"......what people see and brush over the "inside"......what is unseen. I am not talking about the Exterior or Interior of a home or building but the foundation. What lies under the carpet, paint & decortaions. This is the most valuable because it is what lasts.

I can also tend to use relationships, a career, my family, friends, a church and even the country I live in as my foundation......but it is not a solid & sure foundation. Peolpe fail, relationships can be broken, people change. The only foundation that will never change is Jesus.

I am so thankful for these gentle reminders to keep things in perspective......first things first.
Matthew 6:33 - But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Jesus is our foundation!

On Christ , the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.
