Building a home

Proverbs 14:1 -"The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down." (NIV)

(NLT) -"A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands."

(NKJV) -"The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands."

This verse touched my heart several years ago and every time I read it I am reminded of the truth it reveals. We may not have built our homes from the ground up but we do conscientiously build our homes.....desiring to create an atmosphere of love & warmth where our families can flourish and friends are always welcome. We spend time decorating, cleaning....redecorating & cleaning....moving the furniture to give it a new look.

We also build our homes by making wise choices in our relationships with our husbands and our children. We work on our communication with each other knowing that it does not happen naturally, it must be developed.

All building takes time....picturing brick set on brick until a sturdy safe home is built.

"But the foolish tears it down with her own hands." It takes so much time and energy to build our homes yet we can tear them down in an instant with our words, attitudes and actions. Our homes are so much more than curtains, paint, & pretty decorations - they are relationships that
are gifts from the Lord that are worth our time & energy. Life is too short, don't waste your day with pride, stubbornness or unforgiveness......choose to love & build your home!
