Choices for the New Year

I love Proverbs 3:5-6 - a familiar passage, it says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him & He will direct your paths." For as long as I can remember I have read a Psalm & a Proverb every day with my devotions......this was instilled in me from my mom & dad. I continue to find something new to refresh, stregthen, & challenge me to keep growing in my faith no matter how many tmes I have read through them.

Even though these are familiar verses they are not always easy to obey......"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding...." it isn't easy to trust God in every situation we face and it definately isn't always easy for me to lean not on my own understanding.......I want to know what will happen next and figure things out....know the why's. Verse 5 from The Message says, "Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own." I am gently reminded to trust God completely, from the very depths of who I am.....and don't try to figure everything out.

I tend to be structured by nature....follow a plan and my day-planner. But in order to trust God at this level I need to release control......control of having to have all the answers, have all my ducks in a row so to speak, before I trust Him. I have to actively choose to trust in the Lord with all my heart each and every day.

Then it goes on to say, "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." Verse 6 from The Message says, "Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He's the one who will keep you on track." Not only do I need to choose to trust in the Lord with all my heart but I must also choose to stay in constant communication with Him to be able to listen to His voice in everything I do and everywhere I go. With this daily choice I can be confident that He will make my paths straight and He will keep me on track.......the path He leads me down today or tomorrow may not be filled with any answers but if I am trusting God with all my heart I can obey Him and follow where He leads me.

I pray these verse over you as well.......Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, don't try to figure everything out......choose to trust completely in the One who not only has everything figured out but has a perfect plan for your life (Jer. 29:11). Choose to listen for God's voice in everything you do and everywhere you go because He will keep you on track........trust Him.

I choose to trust God not only for salvation but in every situation, love people & to invest my life for His glory.
